A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.(Proverbs 16:9)
Devotional
It is good to have a heart’s desire. God wishes to grant those desires. However, He will not do so if they will bring harm to us or fail to glorify His name. He loves us too much to do that.The plans of the heart are not always the plans of the Lord. Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”(1) There have been many instances in my life that I did not receive my heart’s desire because my heart’s desire was wrong. However, the longer I walk with the Lord the more my heart’s desires have changed. And, the more they change the more they are granted. It is a matter of alignment; my heart being in alignment with His will and desire for my life. Therefore, when you do not receive the desire of your heart, check out the motives of your heart. You will most likely find that God has directed your steps in a better way.
