Title

The Acquisition of Wisdom

Scripture
“Great men are not always wise, nor do the aged always understand justice.”
(Job 32:9)
Devotional
Here the youngest of Job’s accusing friends makes an astute declaration. Age is not always a guarantee of justice. Nor do great men always possess wisdom. In summary, a wise perception does not necessarily reveal one’s depth of wisdom.
Many people get stuck in a certain season or time of life. They are married to nostalgia, but divorced from maturity. The same happens spiritually. There is no more growth, understanding, or maturity than they received when they first believed.
There are believers who have been saved for many decades, but have done nothing except repeat the first year of their salvation over and over again. They have not grown nor matured in their faith. Therefore there is no increase in wisdom.
Wisdom and understanding come via obedient faith, not just the passing of years.
