Thinking With a Purpose

Scripture
May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord.
(Psalm 104:34)
Devotional
Let me ask you a straight-up question. Do you meditate? Do you purposefully muse with focus? If so, on what do you meditate? I would venture to say that most of us, if we do meditate at all, meditate on our problems. That is OK, we should think on them in order to solve them. However, these are not to be the soul thoughts of our minds. We must think on the things of God and God Himself. Life at best is a series of problems that must be solved. Therefore, we would be wise to think on the great problem solver, the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. When we think on the things of God, it is sweet to Him. Furthermore, meditating on the Lord makes the heart glad. When I focus only on my problems, I get distressed. When I think on the Lord, I get encouraged. Set a time aside each day for meditation. Focus on the things of God and be glad.
