Bragging Rights

Scripture
Let not the wise…the mighty… Nor… the rich man glory… But let Him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me.
(Jeremiah 9:23-24)
Devotional
There is only one thing believers have to boast about and that is that we understand and know the Lord. All other boasting is hollow and vain. Any and all boasting apart from Christ is prideful and arrogant. The Bible says of man’s wisdom, “The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.” With regard to man’s strength Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Furthermore, the boasting of riches can likewise only be in the Lord. The Bible again says, “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich and He adds no sorrow with it.” If God grants us wisdom, might or riches, how could we boast in ourselves? These things are a gift from God. All we can do is be thankful and give God the glory for His lovingkindnes, judgment, and righteousness. “‘For in these I delight,’ says the Lord.”
