Title

A Little, But Powerful Flock

Scripture
Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
(Luke 12:32)
Devotional
The term "little flock" in the original language of the scriptures is expressed as a double diminutive, which cannot be expressed in the English language. It has the connotation of being more than extremely small in size. Compared to the sin nature of the world, believers are purely an endearing little flock. Nevertheless, these flocks, like the tiny nation of ancient Israel, have been chosen to receive God's kingdom. The church of Jesus Christ, though it may be small in a community, is the inheritor of that community. The leaders of those little flocks are the guardians of their cities. Furthermore our attitudes are to be as sojourners in a foreign realm. This is not where we are to store our treasures. We are to do the business of the kingdom until Christ Comes;[20] nevertheless the profits of that business will be redeemed in God's eternal kingdom. Therefore, do not fear the wolves of the world, "for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."
