Where Do You Abide?
Scripture
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.(Psalm 61:4)
Devotional
These tabernacles (our bodies) in which we dwell are temporal. Those who abide in Christ have eternal heavenly tabernacles. "For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."[21] Therefore let us ask ourselves, in whose tabernacle are we dwelling? Jesus said, "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned."[22] Here is where the security of the believer is found. Here we can say with the psalmist, "I will trust in the shelter of Your wings." Let us not abide in our own understanding, but in the understanding that comes from God. Let us not trust in our own abilities, but in the ability that come from faith in Christ. Let us by that faith abide in the Vine and that Vine is Christ.Daily Reading
