If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.(Romans 10:9)

Confession is no more a work than believing or breathing. It is exactly what it is, "confessing." Does one have to verbally confess Christ to be saved? No, but if he or she is able to communicate, he or she will. Receiving Christ and confessing Him is the same as breathing in and breathing out. What comes in will come out. Here we have the simplicity of salvation. If it is in your heart and mind, it will be in your mouth. "Confession with the mouth and belief in the heart refer to the believer's outward and inward responses. His inward conviction must find outward expression. When he confesses that Jesus is Lord, he is asserting Christ's deity and His exaltation, and the fact that he, the believer, belongs to Him. A man's belief in the Resurrection shows that he knows God acted and triumphed in the cross. The man who confesses that Christ is Lord and has such a belief or conviction will attain salvation."[12]Daily Reading
