Title

We Hear, But Do We Listen?

Scripture
Who among you will give ear to this? who will listen and hear for the time to come?
(Isaiah 42:23)
Devotional
We hear, but do we listen? Do we listen with an ear that hears with obedience? I am amazed at the number of good folks that attend college classes, business meetings and church services who do not listen. Let me describe those who do not listen. First of all, they are inevitably late. They sit in the back of the room. Their body posture is closed. They sit with arms crossed, daring someone to enter their personal zone. If there is an outline or text book, it is closed. Taking notes is beneath them. They do not critique, they judge, constantly looking for something to ridicule. They have the attitude of how can anyone teach me since I already know it all. Do these characteristics define your pedigree? If so, uncross your arms. Move to the front of the room. Open your outline and take notes. Stop judging and begin listening. You just might learn something that will change your life.
