The Purpose Of Prayer

Scripture
Do not be furious, O Lord, nor remember iniquity forever; indeed, please look-we all are Your people.
(Isaiah 64:9)
Devotional
I am convinced that the purpose of prayer is not to inform God of our needs and wants, but rather so that we may know them. Jesus said, “Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.” Diligence in prayer reflects diligence in spirit. You can tell the important things in your life by the amount of prayer given to them. Think about the prayer time you give to the things that are troubling in your life. How much do you really pray for your marriage, your finances, or your spiritual walk? How much time have you given to these needs in prayer the past month? To what would that time equate: days, hours, minutes? When you think about the amount of time given, you may have to likewise pray, “Do not be furious, O Lord.” Therefore, remind Him so that you may know, “We are Your people.”
