Know Who To Fight

Scripture
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life…
(1 Timothy 6:12)
Devotional
We so very often get ourselves into battles that we have not been called to fight. We take up some cause and make it the priority of the universe. When there is to be but one cause, Christ. Taking a position on a moral issue is good. However, making that moral issue your calling is at best questionable. For example, I am pro-life, pro-family and conservative. Nevertheless, I exemplify these by my commitment to Christ and His church. I do not do so by fighting the wrong enemy. Mankind is not our enemy, but victims of the enemy. Remember, “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities… against spiritual hosts of wickedness…” When we fight against people, we allow the real enemy to run rampant. Instead of striving to win the war over people, let us win people over. There is only one good fight, the fight of faith.
