Title

Do I Grieve the Lord?

Scripture
And the Lord was sorry that He had made man… and He was grieved in His heart.
(Genesis 6:6)
Devotional
Here we find the epitome of sadness. God the creator of the universe was sorry that He made a creature in His own image. How disappointing mankind has been to God. He created us to be perfect, yet we have chosen imperfection. He created us to fellowship with Him, yet we have chosen to fellowship with the evil one. He has created us to worship Him. Yet we have chosen to worship the created instead of the Creator, who is blessed forever. It was for this reason that He sent His Son to redeem fallen man back to the status in which we were created. However, even after redemption we fell into the same routine as fallen man. How sad to think that Christ may be sorry that He came to earth to save us. How awful it would be for Him to be grieved at our condition as the redeemed. We are to do our all not to grieve Christ and especially His Spirit. We are to live our lives to please Christ above all. Therefore, let us worship, serve, honor, and glorify the Creator and not the creation.
