Now therefore, listen to me my children; pay attention to the words of my mouth.(Proverbs 7:24)
Devotional
This father qualifies his directive with the words, “Now therefore”. He, in essence, is saying that because of the proof of my life and the previous counsel I have given, pay attention to my words. We need to examine the lives of our potential mentors. Have the things they said been true and profitable? Do their lives match their words? Has their counsel been sound and sure? If so, pay attention to the words of their mouths. Listen with an ear of obedience to life’s Truth Sayers. It is one thing to hear the truth, it is quite another to obey the truth. We are blessed to have complete truth available to us by way of the Word of God, the Bible. It is the only authentic litmus test for the truth. If what is being said violates God’s Word, what is being said is at best deception. Therefore, find a Truth Sayer whose source of truth is the Word of the Lord.Daily Reading
