Title

Fifty-nine Won’t Do

Scripture
Bezalel… made all that the Lord had commanded Moses.
(Exodus 38:22)
Devotional
Sixty times we hear the phrase, “The Lord had commanded Moses.” Fifty-nine of those sixty times Moses obeyed. On one occasion, God instructed Moses to chastise the people and speak to the rock. He instead struck the rock and spoke to the people. (See Numbers chapter 20). Because of this one instance of disobedience, Moses, the humblest man that ever existed, was not permitted to enter the Promised Land. The lesson: Obedience to God is not an option. God does not grade on the curve. He accepts nothing less than a perfect score. This may sound harsh to a compromising generation like ours, nevertheless when God says sixty, fifty-nine won’t do. With Christ all things are possible. He empowers us to obey Him. We truly can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We have the ability and power available to obey all that the Lord commands us to do.
