Do You Need To Forgive?

Scripture

But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.
(Mark 11:26)

Devotional

Let us stop for a moment and take inventory. Let us ask: Am I at odds with anyone? Are there people that I am purposefully avoiding because of a conflict? Am I holding a grudge? If there is a person or a list of persons, write down their names. Prioritize the severity of the infraction or lack of forgiveness. Once you have completed your list, confront the most difficult first. The remainder will come easily. Remember, the reason for the confrontation is forgiveness, not closure. If you are the one in need of forgiveness, simply ask for it. If you are the one to do the forgiving, you may have to make sure that the person needing the forgiveness realizes that they have trespassed against you. Furthermore, the tables may turn. The forgiver may be the one in need of forgiveness. Remember, if you do not forgive, you may not be forgiven.
