There Was Good In Nazareth

And Nathanael said to Him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”(John 1:46)

The answer to Nathanael’s question is obvious, “Yes!” Something very good has come out of Nazareth. As the old saying goes, “You cannot judge a book but its cover.” Nevertheless, we still try. That is why publishers spend so much money on book covers. Because of our wrong judgments, covers sell books. I have read many a book that the best part of the book was its cover. The lesson is simple; our natural tendency is to judge wrongly. Like Nathanael, we judge people by their ethnic and geographical background, and even the color of their hair. Looks can also be very deceiving. Some of the sharpest people I know are dull in appearance. I do not know how impressed we would have been with Jesus. Isaiah describes Him this way, “He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him.” Before we judge whether or not anything good can come out of certain people, remember Nathanael questioning of Nazareth.Daily Reading
