It is important to note that David, the king of Israel, wrote this Psalm. The same David, who left his son Solomon the equivalent of 3.8 billion dollars to build the temple, is crying out, “Hear me; for I am poor and needy.” ?Obviously, David’s need was not monetary. ?David’s need was for the richness that comes from a personal relationship with the Lord God. All the riches and wealth of this world is valueless if it is void of Christ. ?Jesus said, “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” The wealth of this world cannot compare with the poverty of heaven. The poorest of saints are richer than the wealthiest of sinners. ?Financial prosperity is good and profitable, but spiritual prosperity is better and pays far greater dividends.Daily Reading
