Title

Dealing with Suffering

Scripture
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
(Romans 8:14)
Devotional
Suffering is relevant. What appears to be suffering to one person may be a comfort to another. Most of our apparent suffering is but an inconvenience to excessive self-indulgence. Suffering for some is simply an avenue for attention. These are those who revel in their ailments and praise their misfortunes. They will inevitably tell you that something is physically wrong with them or someone is mistreating them. Some will feign just about anything to get attention, even if it has to be negative attention. Nevertheless whether it is true or feigned, the suffering of this life is not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us. I do not believe that this glory is only in reference to heaven, but for this life as well. The promise of our text can be summed up in the phrase, “The best is yet to come.” And if our trust is in Christ, the promise will come to pass.
