Title

Ladies And Gentlemen

Scripture
Let your gentleness be known to all men, the Lord is at hand.
(Philippians 4:5)
Devotional
The apostle Peter says, “Do not let your adornment be merely outward… rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” Gentleness is not an effeminate attribute; it is a godly attribute. Gentleness is a self-describing characteristic. If it must be defined, it is best defined by what it is not. Gentleness is not harsh, loud, curt, nor boisterous. It is Christ-likeness. We call Him “Gentle Shepherd.” I have found that we, for the most part, are less gentle with those the closest to us. We often treat strangers more gently than we do our own families. This is hypocrisy to the fullest. Gentlemen are gentle to their wives. That is why we are called “Gentlemen.” Ladies, likewise, as the apostle Peter said, “Do not let your adornment be merely outward."
