Each one had four faces… the face of a cherub… the face of a man… the face of a lion, and… the face of an eagle.(Ezekiel 10:14)
Devotional
Ezekiel got a glimpse of the heavenly realm, the place of spiritual warfare. The apostle Paul instructs us in the book of Ephesians: “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” I cannot say for certain, but I would imagine that the four faces of Ezekiel’s wheel represent the four faces of those who are fighting the spiritual battles of life. The face of the cherub is, naturally, the face of angelic beings who minister and protect us constantly. The face of man is exactly that, the faces of you and me. We, too, are in a spiritual battle. The face of the lion is the face of the Lion of the tribe of Judah, Christ Jesus Himself. The face of the eagle is the face of those who run and do not grow weary, who walk and do not faint.Daily Reading
