Title

Six and One is Better than Seven

Scripture
Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work.
(Exodus 20:9-10)
Devotional
God knows His creation. He knows that we need to work hard and rest well. Work is a good thing; it is what God calls the thing He does. Rest is likewise good; it is what He did the seventh day of creation. I am convinced that we are to work a six-day week. I am also just as convinced that we require a day of rest. We are designed to work and we are designed to rest. We may not be able to rest on the seventh day or the Lord's day. Nevertheless we are to have a day in seven to rest. To truly profit the other six, we have to invest one day into ourselves. A Sabbath unto the Lord is to be a day of reflection, worship and praise. Jesus said that "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath". And that He is Lord of the Sabbath. Therefore, give the Lord and yourself what is due.
