Here we have the great difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. The Old was that of the law; the New is that of relationship. The Old Covenant was governed by "do's and "don'ts" The New Covenant is a done deal. Even though Christ is Lord God almighty and our Master, He is likewise the Husband to His Bride, the Church. Now we have a much more intimate relationship with God through Christ. The apostle Paul informs us in 2 Corinthians 11:2, "For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ."[3] It is for this reason that the relationship between a husband and a wife is of such great importance.
