Title

The Church at Pergamos

Scripture
"I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you
(Revelation 2:13)
Devotional
As it was in Pergamos, it is in many communities today. There are areas where satanic activity is rampant, especially in the midst of the foolishness of youth. Nevertheless the more prevalent the darkness the more powerful the light. Churches that are in the midst of the spiritual battle, like the church of Pergamos, must hold fast to and proclaim strongly the name of Christ. For where there is much darkness, there is also a tendency to tolerate the things of that darkness. Where there is such an abundance of wickedness, there will likewise be a tendency for, wrong doctrines, sexual immorality and the like. These shadows of darkness will attempt to infiltrate the church. The church must therefore never forget that it is in a spiritual battle. Like Antipas, we may be called to be faithful even unto death. "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."[14]
