He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets; therefore do not associate with one who flatters with his lips.(Proverbs 20:19)

Another's confidence shared is no longer a confidence, it is gossip. You may be flattered to be included in another's secret, however in reality you are sharing in nothing but ugly gossip. Learn to hate talebearing as much as God does. It is how reputations are marred and innocent lives ruined. If you detect gossip, thwart it in its tracks. Refuse to hear it and do not associate with those who practice its evil art. If you find yourself a talebearer, repent of your wickedness and learn to shut your lips. Do not hide behind the guise of sharing a prayer request. Do not represent yourself as a confidant to others if you cannot control your urge to tell another. When dealing with a gossip, confront him or her quickly. Take the culprit to the victim of the tail. Gossip is foolishness; therefore treat it as it deserves.Daily Reading
