Tell the Truth and Live

Scripture
A false witness shall perish, but the man who hears him will speak endlessly.
(Proverbs 21:28)
Devotional
Those who tell lies and spread rumors will eventually perish, but their deceitfulness can take on a life of its own. We live in an age where people are more than often perceived guilty by sheer accusation. Corrupt news travels at light speed. It is almost impossible to stop. It matters not whether valid or invalid, negative allegations are fluid. They will flow to the lowest acceptable point. However, there is a way to stop the spreading of rumors: stop listening to them. Refuse to hear a negative report unless the one being accused is present. The one who is willing to hear the false witness is the one who will endlessly speak what he or she has heard. Learn to stop rumors, accusations and charges at their onset. Immediately take the accuser to the one being accused. Why should you be among the false witnesses who perish? Instead, tell the truth endlessly and live.
