How Is Work?

Scripture
What profit has the worker from that in which he labors?
(Ecclesiastes 3:9)
Devotional
What profit do you have from that in which you labor? How sad that most people measure the profit of their labor monetarily. If the only thing you work for is financial gain, I would imagine that you have little happiness and no joy. Work is to be a good thing. Work is what God calls the thing He does. There must be more fruit to our labor than financial achievement. I am not indicating that monetary gain is insignificant. Nevertheless, there needs to be more to work than that. Proverbs says, “In all labor there is profit ” We are to profit financially, emotionally, spiritually and even physically. Furthermore we are to accomplish gain not only in our own lives, but the lives of others. We are to be an asset to those that employ us, especially if we are self-employed. Therefore, see your work as an intricate part of your ministry for the Lord. Work as if you are employed by Him, because you are.
