Receive Correction, Gain Understanding

Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it. But the correction of fools is folly.(Proverbs 16:22)
Devotional
Understanding is given nearly as much ink in the book of Proverbs as wisdom. As a matter of fact it takes wisdom to get understanding. Proverbs 4:5 instructs, "Get wisdom! Get understanding!"[18] Understanding more than often comes by way of the mistakes we make. It is hard to explain why something will not work until it is tried. It has been rightly called "The school of Hard Knocks." Wisdom reveals understanding by not only our mistakes, but by the mistakes of others as well, the latter being the less costly. When we are corrected for the mistakes we make and we wisely receive that correction, we have gained understanding. The fool cannot obtain understanding because he or she will not be corrected. They are wise in their own eyes and therefore will not gain understanding because they will not receive correction. Be wise, receive correction and gain understanding.Daily Reading
