Title

His Table

Scripture
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
(1 Corinthians 11:26)
Devotional
The ordinance of the Lord's Supper is and has been a very special tradition in the church. In many orthodox churches, it is the first observance for the believer. Some churches use unleavened bread, others wafers. Some use fermented wine, others grape juice. The Catholic Church believes that the elements become the body and blood of Christ (transubstantiation). Some churches have Communion weekly, others monthly and still others occasionally. As you can see, there are a variety of observances, but one Lord. The word "sacrament" seems to define the ordinance best. A sacrament, by definition, is a visible form of God's invisible grace. It is a wonderful symbol of the sacrifice Christ made for us: His body beaten and His blood shed. Therefore, when your church observes the Lord's Supper, be there. Go prepared, having examined yourself, remembering the price paid for your sins and be thankful. "For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes."
