Wisdom Is Better . . .

Scripture
Wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.
(Proverbs 8:11)
Devotional
Wealth and riches can and will eventually fail, but wisdom can and does serve its possessor eternally. All the wealth this world has to offer cannot keep you and me from death’s door, but wisdom can get us through it and into paradise. Financial success and wealth are good, but void of wisdom they profit little. Prosperity without wisdom brings ruin. Without wisdom, rubies and all the things one may desire are things that will eventually be possessed without joy or thanksgiving. And if we are not thankful for our measure, we will in time despise and scorn that measure.

Therefore, if we belong to Christ, He will only grant us that which we have the wisdom to handle. Proverbs 4:7 says it so very well, “Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.”(1) Likewise remember, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”(2)
