Even the Demons Know

Scripture
“Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did you come to destroy us? I know who You are---the Holy One of God!”
(Luke 4:34)
Devotional
James said it this way, “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe---and tremble!”(1) It often seems that the only difference between man and demons is that the demons at least tremble. It is not such a big deal to know who Jesus is. Again, even the evil spirits know that. In our text, they at least refer to Him as the Holy One of God. Mankind, and yes, even the Church seems to treat Him as some mythical nice guy who has no power or authority.
This is something simply we must not do. He is God. He is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is our Lord and Savior. The demons know it and they are lost. We must not only know it, we must exercise our faith in Him. This we do by first of all believing in Him. We then must trust Him, and above all we must walk in obedience to Him. This is faith in action. Anyone can relate to the demons. I would much rather be related to Him as an obedient child.
