In God we boast all day long, and praise Your name forever. Selah.(Psalm 44:8)
Devotional
We wear various badges of honor. Often, we boast of previous escapades and brag about the sins of our youth as if they were honorable deeds. We likewise often wear our religion as a badge of honor. We boast and stand arrogantly on our doctrines instead of on the doctrine giver, the Lord Jesus Christ. We put more faith and trust in what we believe than in whom we believe.Our only true badge of honor is to be the Lord our God. In Him we are to boast, not in our doctrines or ourselves. The psalmist uses the refrain “Selah,” which means to ponder and meditate on what has been said. We are to reflect on our lives. We are to ponder and measure our badges of honor, and ask, “Is Christ truly my badge of honor? Is He the boast of my life?” Whatever glory we have, let it be in the Lord.
