Title

Do I Have An Ear To Hear?

Scripture
He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.
(John 8:47)
Devotional
I would not go so far as to say that this text is a litmus test for salvation, but it sure seems to be a clear indicator. The scriptures repeatedly state, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.” Those with an ear to hear are those who belong to Christ. Thus, an obedient child will hear with an ear toward obedience. There are only a few reasons not to obediently hear God’s Word: laziness, disobedience, or lack of redemption. If you do not belong to Christ, come to Him today. If you are walking in disobedience, repent, and if you are just being lazy, likewise repent, and listen. Here is how you hear God’s Word: through prayerfully reading it, and through Biblical preaching and teaching. If you do not belong to a church founded on God’s Word, of course, find one.
