Devotional
There is no doubt that depression, sorrow, and disappointment can and does cause ill health; but God can strengthen a broken heart and heal a weakened body. We cannot separate our emotions from our flesh. They are for life connected. Proverbs says, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.” (1) Therefore, when life gets you down, and illness is the outcome, without delay turn to the Lord for strength. Find your joy in Him. Begin to thank Him and praise Him for always being in control and knowing the needs you have. His strength and joy will be all the portion you need for your weakened flesh or a broken heart. Learn to trust Him in life’s painful circumstances. Your flesh and heart may fail; but God is ready to be the strength of your heart and all the portion you need forever.Daily Reading
