The Protocol of Prayer

Scripture
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
(Psalm 100:4)
Devotional
There is a protocol in heaven. For us to boldly approach the throne of grace[1] we are to do so with an attitude of thanksgiving, praise and worship. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray He said, "When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name."[2] I am convinced that praise and worship is the key that gets us before our heavenly Father. The very first thing that we our taught about prayer is praise. We are to come with an attitude of thanksgiving, which is the cause and source of praise. Thanksgiving gets us through the gates. Praise gets us into His courts and worship obviously gets us before His throne. God is enthroned in the praises of His people.[3] Do you want your prayers to be heard? Go to God with a heart of thanksgiving. Approach praising Him and bow down worshipping Him. And then let your request be known.
