The wise shall inherit glory, but shame shall be the legacy of fools.(Proverbs 3:35)
Devotional
Honor or shame, admiration or disgrace, which will be your legacy? Which will be your inheritance? Of all we may leave to our heirs, nothing can compare to a good name and the knowledge of God. The fool leaves only the things of this world. His legacy is at best temporal and soon forgotten. The inheritance of the wise is eternal. It is an inheritance that time cannot erase nor the naysayers corrupt. The legacy of the wise is more than possessions. It is the knowledge of the Holy One. It is wisdom and understanding. The wise likewise receives his or her inheritance as faithful stewards. They realize that all that they may have received is a gift of God and that they are but caretakers of His goodness. They have understood that they have inherited glory and that the legacy they can leave will not be measured by the standards of man, but by the standards of God.Daily Reading
