Title

The Power of God

Scripture
Your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
(1 Corinthians 2:5)
Devotional
There are many wise men and great preachers. These should be heard with an ear leaning toward obedience. Nevertheless, our faith cannot be in the wisest of men or the greatest of preachers. Our faith is to be in the Word. Wise men will counsel from the Word and great preachers will preach the Word. When they do, listen. If they do not, flee. Our faith is not to be in our limited understanding of the Word. It is to be in our understanding as revealed by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, pray to be filled with the Spirit and be a student of the Word. The Word of God is the power of God. John 1:1 says, that the Word (Christ) is God. 1 Corinthians 1:24 says that Christ is the power of God, and Romans 1:16 states that the gospel is the power of God. The conclusion of the matter is that the Word of God, the Bible, reveals the Son of God, Christ, who is indeed the power of God.
