Expressly For You
Scripture
The word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel… And He said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you.”(Ezekiel 1:3 & 2:1)
Devotional
Often, while reading the scriptures, certain words jump out at me. Here, in Ezekiel, the word is “Expressly.” “The word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel…” We have the Word of God, the Bible, which is given to the world. We have the spoken word of God that comes through His church, but here God’s word came expressly to one man, Ezekiel. It did not just come; it came with great fanfare-wheels and fire and smoke and whirlwinds. Afterwards, the Lord said to him, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you.” I imagine that Ezekiel had fainted from the sight of heaven’s glory. God had to tell him to get up. I am not sure, but I will venture to say that God has a word expressly for those who have an ear to hear. Lord, give us ears to hear. Open our minds and hearts that we might be ready to receive a word expressly for each of us.Daily Reading
