Title

Addicted To Sin

Scripture
…having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children.
(2 Peter 2:14)
Devotional
There are four words that jump out of our text describing the condition of many souls. Those words state that they, “Cannot cease from sin.” This is the dark state of the addicted sinner. Sin, like an opiate, will take you further than you want to go, cost you more than you are willing to pay, and keep you longer than you wish to stay. Sin is highly addictive. Therefore, turn your eyes from adultery. Flee covetous practices. Why should you be accursed? I have known countless people who have hated their sin; nevertheless, they were unable to free themselves from it. If you find yourself toying with lust or flirting with adultery, cease immediately. If it seems that it is too late for you, if you are in so deep that there does not appear to be any way out, there remains a hope. That hope is found only in Christ. Turn to Him today. He will deliver you.
