Title

After Pentecost

Scripture
Jesus… said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.”
(Matthew 26:36)
Devotional
We will not always understand the directions of the Lord, but one thing is sure, we can always trust them. Surely the disciples knew that something was about to happen. Surely they were willing to follow Jesus even unto death. Nevertheless, when the time came, they faltered and fled. Why? These were brave men. They had seen the mighty works of the Lord. The only possible answer must be that they were not empowered from on high. They had not yet received the Holy Spirit of God. Herein is the only difference between the disciples before Pentecost and the disciples after Pentecost. After the Holy Spirit had come upon them they became great and mighty men of valor. Up until this time they walked with Christ. Now He dwelled within them. Herein lies the difference between those who know about Christ and those who know Him and the power of His resurrection.
