Title

Going Beyond Your Lot

Scripture
Dan went beyond these, because the children of Dan went up to fight against Leshem and took… possession of it and dwelt in it.
(Joshua 19:47)
Devotional
Each of the tribes of Israel were given portions of land as an inheritance. They each received their lot. However the tribe of Dan went after more. I like the tribe of Dan. I like their zeal and willingness to expand their boarders. The lesson is simple. There is nothing wrong with going through life and receiving your lot in life. However, for the few who are willing, there is that which is beyond the basic portion allotted. There is a place to expand your boarders. There is room for growth. It is not easy and it will always involve taking risks. Again, you can just go through life and receive that which is allotted to you; it’s no sin. Nevertheless, if you want to expand and grow, it is there for the taking. Take a look around, what do you see? Has God granted you room to expand and grow? Has He given you opportunity to go and possess beyond your lot in life?
