Title

Be Compelled By God

Scripture
I have not made supplication to the Lord, therefore I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering.
(1 Samuel 13:12)
Devotional
What or who compels you? What is the driving force in your life? When we are totally self compelled; we are in great danger of missing God’s direction for our lives. Self-compelled people are impulsive people. They make decisions based on emotion and the need of the moment instead on sound counsel and godly direction. Self-compelled people take matters into their own hands. This in itself is not a bad trait; however, when the matter does not belong to you it is a deadly quality. Saul’s self-compulsion was the beginning of the rapid downfall of his leadership. There are times when we will be required to make quick decisions. However, we can never justify violating the will of God, no matter how compelling it may seem. Saul desired to do a seemingly good thing, but it was at the wrong time and it cost him dearly. Be compelled by God, not yourself. Why should you loose your kingdom?
