Devotional
The wisdom of the book of Proverbs is not the ordinary wisdom of this world. It is the wisdom that comes from the heart of God. It is more than wise counsel. It is the counsel that comes from the Creator of the universe. This wisdom is clearly found in His Word, the book we call the Bible. Biblical wisdom is as clear as it is vast. Its hights reach heaven and its depths to the very soul. It comes as a byproduct of faith in Christ. He is the source of all wisdom. With this wisdom we will handle practical matters correctly and profitably. It will give us knowledge above our years. It breeds patients and the ability to manifest self-restraint in speech and behavior. Verse 18 says of this wisdom, "Riches and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteousness."[1] How do we obtain such wisdom? We obtain it by walking in obedience to Christ - having an ear to hear and a heart to obey.[1] Proverbs 8:18
