Title

The Curse Of Deceit

Scripture
Cursed is he who does the work of the Lord deceitfully…
(Jeremiah 48:10)
Devotional
These are hard words from a just God about evil deeds. God in His justice hates deceit. Deceit is man’s attempt to fool both man and God. God cannot be fooled, and man can only be fooled for a season. The curse of deceit is the certainty of its exposure. Deceit, like all sin, will surely be found out. Deceit is especially repugnant when applied to the work of the Lord. Those who make believe that they belong to Christ, but actually belong to the world, are cursed. Deceit is man’s feeble attempt to mislead those around him into believing that he is what he is not. If you call yourself Christian and do not obey the Word of the Lord, you are deceiving yourself. James says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” Therefore, if one practices deceit, the only one being deceived is oneself.
