Agreement In Christ

Scripture
Can two walk together, unless they agreed?
(Amos 3:3)
Devotional
The key to agreement is unity of spirit. Agreement is not a matter of preference or opinion. It is a matter of obedience and faithfulness. Agreement must be based on mutual leadership; that is, there must be one ultimate authority. Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” Allow me to paraphrase our text, “How can two walk together with differing authority?” Again, Jesus said, "No one can serve two masters…” Therefore, the only way for a couple to walk together successfully is serving the same God. It is for this reason that the scripture declares that we are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Whether choosing a business partner or a spouse, there is no greater common bond than the Lord Jesus Christ. If you cannot agree on Christ as Lord, how can you walk together?
