Title

The Confrontational

Scripture
Now it happened on one of those days, as He taught the people in the temple and preached the gospel, that the chief priests and the scribes, together with the elders, confronted Him.
(Luke 20:1)
Devotional
Confrontation is seldom if ever pleasant, unless one is contentious. Nevertheless whenever a stand is made for Christ, confrontation is inevitable. As a preacher of the gospel, I am regularly confronted about a myriad of things. From these I have learned that there is a difference in someone asking a question about a particular message and someone questioning a message. One is seeking information the other is making an indictment. The latter is a confrontation. It is important to know the difference. It is difficult to discern the distinction between the two. Therefore you have to listen carefully and do your best to respond correctly. We are to answer legitimate questions and simply acknowledge indictments. I have also found that confrontational people are regulars. They routinely begin with, "I have a question," but seldom if ever put a question mark at the end of their sentences. Listen carefully and respond appropriately and move on lovingly.
