Pray With Me

Now I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in prayers to God for me.(Romans 15:30)

Notice that the apostle did not say, "Pray for me," but "pray with me." He understood that prayer is the battle. It was not, "pray for me, while I work," but, "work with me in prayer." We would not ask someone to work for us and not work ourselves, neither should we ask someone to pray for us if we are not praying. Asking someone to pray for you should not be a trivial thing. You are asking someone to sacrifice their time and their very being. Prayer is a weighty matter. God takes it very seriously; and so should we. The apostle Paul realized the significance of prayer. His request for prayer was a prayer itself, "I beg you, brethren, through the Lord Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit." Do you see the gravity? When we ask someone to pray for us, let us realize what we are asking. Let us by all means ask, but let us not ask as if we were asking a small thing. Instead of, "pray for me," let it be "pray with me."Daily Reading
