Title

If It Ain't Broke, You may Need to Break It

Scripture
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven... a time to break down, and a time to build up
(Ecclesiastes 3:1&3b)
Devotional
The old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" does not always hold true to form. Sometimes there are things that are functioning, as they were intended, but have outlasted their usefulness. There may be things that we have been doing for years, and years ago they worked very well. You may have heard the story of the woman who before baking a ham would cut a portion off of each end. One day her daughter asked her why she did so, to which she replied, "that is the way my mother taught me." Curiosity got the best of the woman, so she called her mother and asked the same question, to which she replied, "that is the way my mother taught me." So she called her grandmother and asked the same question, to which the grandmother replied, "I cut the ends off of the ham so that it would fit into my pan." There are things that we may be doing that no longer need to fit into a certain mold. It may be a time to break them down and build them up.
