God Honors The Humble
Scripture
A man’s pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor.(Proverbs 29:23)
Devotional
The pride of man seeks honor and does not receive it. The humble in spirit seeks humility and receives honor. True honor comes from God alone. Man is not to seek it. When he does, instead of honor he will be not only humbled, but humiliated. The reason being is that all honor belongs to God. It is reserved for His glory and use only. If He does not give it, it is not to be gotten. Pride is destructive. The main problem with it is that those who have it do not see it as pride, but as their due reward for their own righteousness. Pride is deceptive and deadly. The apostle John says of it, “For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life––is not of the Father but of the world.” If you are offended when dishonored, it is pride. If you are angered and judgmental toward those who judge you, it is pride; and a man’s pride will bring him low.Daily Reading
