Commit Your Night to the Lord

Scripture
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep, for You alone O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
(Psalm 4:8)
Devotional
What keeps you awake at night? Is it anything you can change? If so, be at peace and change. Is it something you are unable to change? Leave it to the Lord and trust Him. However, if you are not at peace in the Lord, the only thing there is to change is your attitude. If we are insecure in life, it is because we are placing our security in this life. Life is so very fragile because we are so very fickle. Christ is neither. In Him there is only strength and certainty. We must also realize that not all sleepless nights are the cause of fear or insecurity. An excessive amount of business, exercise or thought can rob the body of sleep. Do not mistake these of being troubled. Learn to use sleeplessness for prayer and meditation. Write out your thoughts. Do not worry about being tired in the morning. Give the night to the Lord and dwell in safety.

This devotional came at a good time for me. Much has been keeping me up and stressed at night. I turn it over to the Lord, but sometimes uncertainty and fear keeps me restless. More prayer usually helps ease that.
