Title

Sufficient Sustenance

Scripture
The poor shall eat and… praise the Lord. All the prosperous of the earth shall eat and worship.
(Psalm 22:26 & 29)
Devotional
The poor have cause to celebrate through praise. The prosperous have like cause to worship with humility. The psalmist is clear; if we have sufficient sustenance we are to praise the Lord. If we have sustenance in abundance we are to worship Him. Whether rich or poor, we are to magnify the Lord. Therefore we can never be too poor to exult Him nor too wealthy to serve Him. The purpose of nourishment is to strengthen our physical bodies to praise and worship the Creator of the universe. We, as children of the King, do not live to eat or eat to live. We eat to praise and worship the King. Our poverty and wealth are to have nothing to do with our ability to magnify and glorify the Lord. The rich have neither greater cause nor the poor a greater excuse. Whether rich or poor we are the Lord’s. If we have bread enough, we are to praise Him. If we have food in abundance we can worship Him.
