Title

Work to Greater Work

Scripture
As He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
(Mark 1:16)
Devotional
Jesus always called men from work to greater work. He remains the same today. Many good people accomplish very little in their lives because they are waiting to start at the top. Working their way up the proverbial ladder of success is beyond them. I hear that those very few people who do start at the top fall from the top. Jesus said to Simon and Andrew, “Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men.” The key phrase here is “I will make you.” There was to be a learning process. The lesson is simple. Start at the bottom. Learn all that you can about those areas you will some day be leading. The greatest leader of a business, for example, is the one who has a good understanding of the people in that business. Do not just desire the top, work toward the top. By the way, Jesus also said, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”
